First of all, DCSU would like to thank each and every one of you who made a donation to our collection for the Hope Centre over the Christmas period. We had a huge car load full of food which was incredible to be able to donate.
We received a thank you message from the Hope Centre themselves and we would love to share this with you…
Thank you for all your Christmas Donations.
We’ve received so many generous gifts and we can not thank you enough. During this season we have been so busy with many families and individuals who are going though a tough time. We’ve seen such an increase in need, and there are so many people in our city who are facing crisis situations. Your donations this Christmas went to people like Karen and David who we came into contact with through one of our partner agencies. Karen and David, were in need of a home, friendship, food and clothing. We were able to build up a strong relationship, offer food, clothing and signpost to other agencies to get further help. Just before Christmas they found a place to call there own which was fantastic news! We then were able to help them move in, we found and gave them some furniture and essential household items such as a bed and some pots and pans. We had our Hope Centre Christmas Party, to which they attended and we were able to celebrate with them. It was so much fun, we played games and ate a traditional meal, Santa came too and gave presents. This was such a special thing that we were able to do, not just for Karen and David but for so many more across our city. We really couldn’t have done any of it without your help, support and donations this year. A huge thank you again and a very happy and healthy new year to you and all your loved ones.
The Hope Centre Team
Due to the success of the food bank collection, we are now running a clothing collection. This is going to run up until February 2nd and we hope that this will be as successful! So if you need a clear out after Christmas then bring your old clothing to us to make another successful donation! They are struggling for men’s clothing but will take anything as everything is helpful.
If you’d like any more information or wish to donate, please come to the DCSU offices in T001- RH, S19- JWC and the union building at BH.
